I’M SO EXCITED…It’s time for THE RULES FOR RSD2018 AT DAVE’S RECORDS

It’s the ELEVENTH RSD…Turn it up!!

All the ordering is done and we are shifting into high gear to put RSD2018 into place. We are driving toward the 11th year of RSD. Record Store Day is the day we all celebrate what drives us as music lovers – the love of VINYL. It is the day we GET EXCITED AND SHOUT our love to the physical spaces that help us build our physical collections. We all choose our own musical bricks but we all share the love of the musical architecture that binds artist with music lover with record store owner. The cycle continues because stores are a repository of the frequencies known and unknown that complete our own musical temple held together with the sounds of our life’s journey. The sounds we hear at 15 may have set the foundation but we experience a different connection to that music 40 or 50 years later. We all have a thread that grows into a tapestry that holds our ears…our hearts…our minds and yes, our lives together. Thank you for sharing a small part of your lives with us over your musical years and thank you for being the driving force that keeps us on the road.

It’s that time of year and I am getting it together believe it or not. Checking the rearview mirrors adjusting the seat and getting ready to shift out of neutral. Before we put it in drive the first rule to observe to make for a pleasant trip is

TREAT THOSE IN LINE, THOSE PASSING BY AND THE OTHER SURROUNDING BUSINESSES (OUR NEIGHBORS) AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED WITH KINDNESS AND COMPASSION!! I KNOW IT’S A LONG WAIT BUT BE COOL!! THANKS!!!

SATURDAY APRIL 21, 2018 IS RECORD STORE DAY

IF YOU ARE DRIVEN TO SHARE IT WITH US…

HERE ARE THE 11 RULES OF THE ROAD AT DAVE’S RECORDS FOR RECORD STORE DAY 2018

 

1) EVERYTHING IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. THE LINE WILL BE SERVED AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

2) DAVE’S RECORDS OPENS AT 10AM AT THE LATEST. WE WILL OPEN WHEN WE ARE SET TO GO (LAST YEAR THAT WAS ABOUT 9:00). THE LINE WILL BE LED IN AS IT WAS CREATED AND IT WILL BE SERVED IN THAT ORDER. YOU KNOW THE DRILL.

3) ITEMS WE ACTUALLY HAVE WILL BE POSTED FRIDAY, APRIL 20 BY 11PM SO YOU WILL KNOW IF IT IS WORTH YOUR WHILE TO WAIT IN LINE.

4) ALL ITEMS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE COUNTER SO WAIT IN LINE AND WHEN YOUR TURN COMES ASK FOR EVERYTHING YOU WANT. PAY FOR YOUR RECORD STORE DAY STUFF AND THEN YOU MAY EITHER CONTINUE TO SHOP (WE DO HAVE PLENTY OF OTHER STUFF) OR YOU MAY MOVE ON TO THE NEXT STORE. HIT AS MANY AS YOU CAN.

5) EVERYONE MAY PURCHASE UP TO 1 OF EACH ITEM UNTIL 2PM. AFTER 2PM, YOU MAY PURCHASE ITEMS IN QUANTITY. THIS WAY EVERYTHING WILL BE DISTIBUTED TO AS MANY PEOPLE IN AS FAIR A WAY AS POSSIBLE.

5) BE PATIENT. NOT EVERYONE IS LOOKING FOR THE SAME ITEMS THAT YOU ARE. SO DON’T PANIC. EVERY YEAR I AM MIGHTILY IMPRESSED BY THE SPIRIT AND GOOD WILL OF THE RECORD SHOPPING COMMUNITY. I’M SURE I WILL BE FOR RSD 2018.

6) PATIENCE WILL BE REWARDED. WE HAVE A VARIETY OF FREE BONUS GOODIES
 TO DISTRIBUTE. OF THE GIVEAWAY ITEMS AS WELL AS AN ASSORTMENT OF BAGS/7″ SINGLES/LP’S/CD/DVD/DOWNLOAD CARDS/STICKERS, ETC. IT IS PILING UP AS WE SPEAK. THOSE NOT BEING PATIENT WILL STAND OUT WHEN IT COMES TIME TO HAND OUT.

7) FREE CANDY FOR EVERYONE EVEN THE NON RECORD SHOPPER AND THE IMPATIENT.

8) FREE CUPCAKES (COURTESY OF MOLLY’S CUPCAKES) UNTIL SUPPLIES RUN OUT

9) ALL SALES INFO OR FREE ITEM INFO MUST HAVE BEEN POSTED ON THIS BLOG. IF YOU SAY I SAW IT ON ANOTHER WEBSITE/BLOG/NEWSPAPER ARTICLE IT IS NOT VALID.

10) HAVE A BALL ON RECORD STORE DAY!

11+++) THE RECORD STORE EXPERIENCE CAN’T BE DUPLICATED ONLINE SO IT PRETTY MUCH RULES EVERY DAY- IF YOU LIKE THAT KINDA THING.

YOU KNOW WHERE DAVE’S RECORDS STANDS ON THAT.

More info will be added as we press ahead toward RSD 2018. If you want to know if we have an item see Rule #3, we have ordered them all but DAVE’S RECORDS FINAL RSD2018 LIST will not be FINALIZED until Friday(APRIL 20)before RSD2018(Saturday, April 21). Phone calls, e-mails, tweets, or any other form of communication up to and including Morse Code/Semmaphore/Smoke Signals,etc. will be counterproductive and will not get you the answer you need as to what we will ACTUALLY have. WAIT FOR THE LIST and all those questions will be answered. In the past we have had a pretty good fill so we should have a pretty high percentage of ALL of the releases available. Also if you choose to call ON RECORD STORE DAY to ask if we still have an item…THE PHONE WILL BE OFF THE HOOK until roughly 2PM as we will be attending those who dare to take a chance and actually come in to find their RSD treasures. I will try to update the Twitter feed as much as possible when we run out of items. As the afternoon progresses, we will be more able to address questions in the normal fashion but Record Store Day is not a normal day. It is for those people who still do the hard work of shopping for records in ACTUAL PHYSICAL SPACES FILLED WITH PHYSICAL MUSIC. COME GET PHYSICAL WITH US!
