Thanks to the Record Store Day people for starting something that has grown so successfully in such a short span of time.
Thanks to all the distributors(Alliance/URP/Matador/RedEye/Thrill Jockey/Numero,et al.) that got everything to us in time so that it wasn’t utter chaos in getting the special product out for the day.
Thanks to all those who talked to us about Record Store Day whether it was college newspapers, radio shows, blogs, internet sites and major media. Us old dinosaurs are still barking but it’s nice that people want to hear about it. Ruff Ruff!
Thanks to all the other participating stores and particularly the Chicago stores for keeping the record scene alive and being inventive enought to still thrive. So Kudos to Reckless Records, Permanent Records, The Old School Records, Laurie’s Planet of Sound, Dusty Groove, Groovin’ High, Jazz Record Mart, Hyde Park Records, 2nd Hand Tunes and many many others.
Thanks to the band “I Was Totally Destroying It”. You rocked the casbah! Thanks for being creative enough to do an instore with a five piece band in such a tiny space. Everyone enjoyed it!
Thanks to Chris for keeping a steady hand at the helm so that things ran smoothly.
Thanks to my family for standing behind me even though I panic every year and think it isn’t going to come together. Missed you this year Sam but it all worked out alright.
Finally, thanks to the Chicago record buying masses. You made a chaotic and challenging day fun and easy to handle. Your good spirits and sense of adventure for the day was thrilling and inspiring. It makes me glad and proud to be doing this record store thing.
Let’s try it again next year. Cupcakes and candy for everyone!
